“Our National Merit scholars are some of the brightest minds in Klein ISD,” Klein ISD Superintendent Dr. Jenny McGown said. “Additionally, many of these students are involved in athletics and the arts and give of their time and talent volunteering in our Klein community. These outstanding scholars exemplify what it means to be well-rounded in today’s education system, and I know that their teachers and families are so proud. Congratulations to our National Merit Commended Scholars, and good luck to our National Merit Semifinalists as they advance to the next stage of this prestigious competition!”

The application process for students is rigorous. Semifinalists who are considered for the Merit Scholarship award have to fulfill several requirements to move on to be finalists. Students must have exemplary academic standing, have an endorsement from a high school official, write an essay, and provide SAT and ACT scores.

“The National Merit Scholarship Program is the most prestigious scholarship opportunity for students across the country,” Advanced Academics Director Kathleen Plott said. “We are grateful for the support of our advanced course teachers, guidance from our counselors, and incredible support from our campus leaders who recognize their incredible achievements.”

Students who have qualified for the semifinalist standing represent less than 1% of U.S. high school seniors, including the highest-scoring entrants in each state. All Merit Scholar winners are selected based on their skills, accomplishments, and potential to be successful in their post-high school studies.

Congratulations to each of these gifted scholars! We are honored to have students like you who showcase what it means to live out your purpose.
